I wanted to take some friend fishing for Strippers while giving them the best opportunity to catch one. I have chartered with Captain Wendell several times, and I have never been disappointed. We have caught fish every time. But it is not just the fishing that is great, it is the fun you have hanging out with friends, and that is what I consider Wendell to be. If you want to have a great time and catch fish he's your guy.

Captain Wendell guided our group on a very successfull
morning of fishing today. We caught 18 stripers (keeping 5)
before 8 am. He knows where and how to find the fish.
His fishing boat was clean and comfortable for our group
of four fishermen.

Wendell was fun to be around and knows what hes doing when it comes to fishing, we caught more fish than I had ever caught in my life!! Will definitely take another trip with Wendell.

My husband and I went out with Captain Wendell this morning and we caught about 12 really good sized stripers in 4 hours. One my husband caught he weighed at 14 lbs., and most were about 10-12 lbs. He really knows where to find the fish. As others have said, he is a very relaxed person but he does his job the best!

His passion for fishing for the stripers is evident! Right off the bat we found a school of stripers breaking the surface. His excitement showed! First time catching a striper for me. He was very professional and his 20+ years of experience showed. He knew the ins and out of the fish and their behavior patterns. At the same time it felt like talking to an old friend making the time fly by. It was a great experience and I highly recommend. I would go out again when back in the area.

I had capt. Wendell take our men from our church fishing today april 14 all day everyone had a great time and caught fish. He is a good fishing guide and I recommend him highly, well be back at the end of june for another trip. Captain Wendell get us right on the fish. We got 2 before we even get the lines out. Great guy to spend the day with and do business with.

3 PA boys spent a 1/2 day with Capt Wendell and were successful. This guy knows the lake like the back of his hand. His 20 years experience is very evident. One of the most relaxed people I've ever met, he works his ass off to get you on fish. We've done numerous charters and Capt Wendell is on the top of of the list. My family and I went out with Captain Wendell and I must say that he is second to none, when it comes to catching Striped Bass. We boated 15 fish and one was nearly 20lbs. I would definitely go out with him again

July 14 trip with captain Wendell was awesome, he put us on the fish and taught us a lot about striper fishing.He was very professional and the 6 of us caught our limit . A great trip with my best friend and our kids that will be great memories.Had striper for dinner that night- delicious! Highly recommend!!

This was the first guided tour I ever went on. This guy knows his trade very well. Our group of 6 went out for 3 hours and each caught at least 1. 2 of the striped bass weighed in at 16 & 18 pounds! Not sure if that is big for the lake but the feeling of bringing those in was awesome!



It seemed the other captains were having trouble bringing some in, not Captain Wendall. And he is a fun guy to be around, a genuinely nice guy.



The next time I come to SML I am going out again is the was a GREAT experience by all.

I had a great time with captain Wendell. The group that I went with were first time striper anglers. We had experience in other types of fishing but managed to limit out and even get our pics on the page. We had a great time and are planning another trip soon. We will defeintly go again . This past Thursday on July 26th I went out with Capt. Wendell along with my dad, uncle, and cousin and I had one of if not the best fishing experiences of my life. During our time out we caught about 25-30 fish and had a blast doing so. Capt. Wendell is very easy to get along with and knows what he's doing, it was a very exciting and thrilling experience.

My dad took a good friend of mine, my nephew, and a family friend out for my high school graduation present! Needless to say, it was an excellent gift. Captain Wendell is very professional and we caught plenty of big striper and other great bass. Very pleased with the trip and hope to do it again soon!

Had a great time fishing with Captain Wendell! Caught some very nice fish. Defiantly will be back for another charter trip with him. Extremely nice and had no problem putting us on fish.

We could not had a better day. Capt. Wendell was prompt, very professional and friendly, but more important we were catching fish twenty minutes after we left the dock. He worked the whole time we were out, and even had a couple of tricks of the trade. Highly recommend and we'll be back.

Two old classmates and I went with Wendell this past Friday morning for our first striper fishing experience on SML. Wendell got us on the fish immediately and the action was non-stop. We caught around 40 fish that ranged from 3 to 20 pounds on a half day trip. I hope we get to go again in the future and I recommend Wendell to anyone who wants to have a great fishing experience.

I went on a trip today and had a great time! Captain Wendell Dudley quickly put us on a school of stripers and we caught several good sized fish. I had a great time and hope to take another trip soon!

I went out with Captain Wendell in June. We caught 19 stripers but if you include the large mouth bass it was 20!! I had a great time & can't wait to go back!!  You should definitely book a trip.  You will not be disappointed!

I along with 3 people went on a trip recently with Capt. Wendell. Ive been on numerous guided fishing trips from Texas to Key West, and this was one of the best yet. Capt. Wendell is not only easy going and easy to work with, but he PUTS YOU ON THE FISH! Between the 4 of us, in 3 hours we caught over 25 fish. We were catching fish while the 3 boats around us sat catching nothing. Definitely recommend it, we will be back again.

Aug 14, 2011 - We fished with Captain Wendell on August 8 and had a great time, I have fished Smith Mountain for over 20 years with many different guides and have to say his knowledge of the lake and sripers rank amoung the best! We caught our limit and had a great meal that night. Thanks Wendell, see you next year for sure.

Aug 9, 2011 -  We just got back from an awesome half day on the lake. Wendell delivered. About an hour in we were into Striper. I heard Wendell say there are fish all under us. He started setting the rods. The first bait hit the water dropped to about 35 feet and BAM! - There were five of us with fish on within minutes. we caught about thirty total and had some mighty fine keepers in the mix. A few other boats made their way over to us and I heard one guy say "Wendell must have different electronics than the rest of us" - LOL. I don't know what it was, but Wendell hooked us up and we hooked up some fish. Can't wait to book another fishing trip to the lake. Thanks Wendell.

Jul 7, 2011 - Wendell did a great job finding fish for us. The first one we caught was over 20 lbs. And was quickly followed by 10 more in the 10-15 lb range. I will be fishing again with Wendell soon.

On Saturday, Of July 2. 2011, We went fishing with captain Wendell For the first time. I have to say Wendell ranks #1 among all guides and even regular fishermen. He knows just exactly what to do when things dont seem right. And with his Lawrence fishfinder, he can almost predict when, and which rod is gonna have a bite. We caught our limit that day and I would recommend Wendell as ANYBODY'S Striper service guide.

Fantastic experience with Captain Wendell on 7/2/2011. Our charter included 2 adults and 4 children approx ages 10-12. There is no doubt you will catch fish. Kids were hesitant but had the time of their life. At one point we had 8 bass hooked at the same moment. Very exciting and great memories. This will be an annual trip....Kids...adults...great eating. Thanks for the great experience.

We went on a Striper fishing trip with Capt. Wendell on April 11, 2011. We had a great time. As Capt. Wendell will tell anyone, I was probably his most toughest customer of all. I have never liked fishing at all, but this was a Christmas present that I got for my husband who LOVES fishing. By the time that our 8 hour guide was complete, I did not want to get off the boat. We are eager to get back and see Capt. Wendell and Liz who was an equal delight to fish with. We have already tasted some of the Striper that we caught.
